Galvanize metals at home with this simple setup. Screw and thread are zero tolerance. Use a tap and die to fix them after printing. I like this technique, because it works without any trial and error to get the tolerance correct. It's best to use printed to avoid contaminating the electrolyte. Add about 20g of citric acid to a litre of water. Use baking soda to balance the pH around 4-5.
Program a microcontroller to oscillate the piece 180 degrees to get an even coating. For the best result use two anodes, one on each side.
Anode to positive and whatever you are coating to negative.
What you need:
Power source (Around 6V, preferably current and voltage control)
Citric Acid
Bicarbonate (baking soda)
Zinc anode(s) 70mm button anode (https://www.biltema.no/batutstyr/batmotor/anoder/knappanoder/knappanode-160-g-2000061832)
SG90 micro servo
Microcontroller
Tools:
M8 tap and die.
