OVERVIEW
This is a plate made for the Craftsman Cordless 20V Router. (CMCW400B). It can be used as is but I designed it to be integrated into a larger platform utilizing the 2 included template guides.
6 total plates with a range of center hole sizes. all with an extra 2mm of tolerance added.
.25" (1/4")
.5" (1/2")
3/4" (3/4")
1" (1")
1.5" (1 1/2")
2 total template guides
Larger guide - Used to create a recessed lip for the plate tofit into
Smaller guide - Used to create the inner hole giving the router access to the plate
ATTACHING THE ROUTER
To connect the router to the plate first take off the routers included clear acrylic base. Next use the routers native screws (the ones you just took off) and align the holes on the plate.
CREATING A PLATFORM
The platform can be any size you like. I made mine to index into a corner of my work surface but you can make yours work at whatever size, or even a dedicated table.
To integrate into a larger platform be sure to download the included template guides.
The larger of the 2 guides is to be used to create the recessed lip that will hold the plate onto the platform. Just use a flush trim bit, or a straight edge and a bit without a bushing, to ride the inside of the template at a depth of .25" (1/4") to make the plate flush with the platform (depth may vary depending on the filament used to print the plate and how much is contracts after cooling down. You can always use the plate itself to determine the depth an just sneak up on it).
The smaller of the 2 guides is the same size as the plate. Insert the smaller guide into the recessed lip you just routed. Now you can use the inside of this guide to completely cut out a hole that will allow the router to access the plate. I suggest using light passes to avoid ruining your bits.
Once this is done put the main plate into place, trace the holes in the corners and then drill them out. These holes were designed to work with 4mm bolts. Optionally you could always print the plate with extra wall loops so you could drill out the hole to use a slightly larger bolt.
