Happy to share my version of the Enterprise hand scanner featuring a 3D printable pop-up display mechanism.
Update May 13 2026 - fixed the holster clip so it now fits completely into the slot.
Update April 8 2026 - added versions of the body and insert without the 'snap-on' parts for a cleaner and smoother pop-up movement. Just requires careful gluing of the insert into the body so as not to affect the movement. Improved the lever. Removed the bump from the front of the black slide piece. Added display stand and holster.
Tips:
- Set perimeter generator to 'Classic' instead of Arachne.
- Print the spring in PETG for better durability.
- If parts are rough moving during the popup movement open and close it several times to help loosen them.
- Follow assembly diagram steps 6 and 7 to adjust the spring tension to be strong enough to keep the display fully up when open. Without these steps the display might sag a bit.
-For the lever to work properly it must be fully snapped into place on the grip.
-Top cap can be printed at an angle for better looking results, but may be difficult to achieve.
