I have French Doors but when I had to replace them I was given two doors both with cutouts for deadlatches.
What's worse, is because the second door had trim on it, I couldn't put a nonfunctional deadlatch in the recess to hold the second faux doorknob in place. So I came up with this.
Just insert this into the recess and use a screen to secure the top and bottom inside (so it doesn't rotate in place). Then just attach your door handle like you normally would.
