I needed a way to hold Sunlu 3kg spools, and wanted something simple but I don't like putting heavy spools resting on the rims. This was what I made to solve the problem.
I printed mine from PETG, and so far it is working well.
It requires:
For the axle-
(2) 608 bearings
(2) M5x20 screws (I used cap head)
(2) M5 Nuts
(4) M5 Washers
For the brakes/spacers-
(4) M4 heatset inserts
(2) M4x8 screws
(2) M4x12 screws
For the filament guide-
(2) M2 heatset inserts
(2) M2x4 screws
See the second picture for axle assembly. Brakes can go on the front or rear spacer, but I prefer them on the rear. When installing, snug the screws on the brakes, then rotate them up until they provide slight friction on the spool to prevent free-wheeling.
