Del Sol Cup Holder

A vent-mounted cupholder designed to replace the Del Sol's passenger(RH) leg vent.

Features a folding hinge design with an optional seamless hinge pin, along with a slotted mounting system for adjustable height and angle. Designed to feel at home in the interior with OEM-inspired fitment and multiple lid styles to match your build.

Simple hardware. Clean install. Actually functional.

🔧 Bill of Materials (BOM)

Required Hardware:

• (1x) M4 Heat-Set Insert (vent mount)

• (1x) M4 Countersunk Bolt (cupholder base)

Hinge Options:

Option A — Seamless (Recommended):

• (1x) 3mm Rod (cut to hinge width)

• Filament (to melt/retain ends using soldering iron or 3D pen)

Option B — Simple Hardware:

• (4x) M3 Button Head Screws (upper + lower hinges)

🛠 Assembly Instructions

1. Prep Parts

• Clean up prints (deburr/light sand as needed)

• Test fit hinge components before final assembly

2. Install Heat-Set Insert

• Install M4 heat-set insert into the vent mount

• Use soldering iron or heat tool

• Ensure insert is straight and flush

3. Hinge Assembly (Upper & Lower)

Option A — Seamless (Recommended):

• (Optional but recommended) Insert the 3mm rod into a drill and lightly ream the hinge holes (This helps ensure smooth rotation and proper alignment)

• Insert rod through hinge points

• Cut flush to width

• Lightly melt filament over both ends (soldering iron or 3D pen)

• Creates a clean, continuous hinge pin with an OEM-style look

Option B — M3 Hardware:

• Install M3 button head screws in hinge locations

• Screws will self-thread into plastic

• Tighten until snug (do not overtighten)

⚙ Installation

• Install the leg vent first before attaching the cupholder assembly

• Align cupholder base to vent mount

• Install M4 countersunk bolt into heat-set insert

• Leave slightly loose for adjustment

- The cupholder base is slotted to allow:

• Angle adjustment

• Height adjustment

- Set your preferred position, then fully tighten the M4 bolt

- Verify hinge movement and clearance

🧪 Print Recommendations

Minimum Recommended Material:

• PETG ✅ (interior-safe baseline)

Preferred:

• ABS / ASA 🔥 (best for heat resistance + long-term durability)

Not Recommended:

• PLA / PLA+ ❌ (Can soften and deform in high interior temps)

Suggested Settings

• Infill: 20–40%

• Walls: 3–4+ (hinge strength matters)

• Layer Height: 0.2mm

Print Orientation

• Main components: Print flat (as imported) for best strength and fit

• Textured lids: Print slightly angled for improved surface finish and texture detail

Optional Upgrades

• Add a rubber or cabinet liner insert to the base for improved grip

• Line inner walls of ring with foam for your drink size of choice to reduce rattling and increase hold
