Project
A stand for game tiles that is collapsable for portability. Use with tiles no larger than 40 mm high and 4 mm depth. The design features moving parts and tight tolerances that may be a challenge to print.
Printing
Designed to print in place with built-in breakaway supports at a layer height of 0.30 mm DRAFT for speed and some of the moving parts are separated by a single 0.30 mm layer. For best results it is recommended to use matte filament as the moving parts separate easier.

Mechanisms
The design features two locking mechanisms; a spring lock to keep the stand in the closed position, and a switch lock to keep the stand in the open position. The tolerance for both locks is quite small. Additionally there are hinges and folding parts. Included are STL’s for the switch lock and the folding tile shelf mechanism. Print the test files if you are worried your printer will fuse the parts together.

Post Processing
Recommend tools: flat-head screw driver and rubber mallet.
1. When print has cooled, break off the four built-in supports.

2. Gently fold the two halves of the stand to unstick the hinge.

3. Release the switch lock mechanism by gently tapping with a rubber mallet or by tapping the protruding bolt on a hard surface if a hammer is not available. Do the same to the spring lock mechanism. Increase the force if it doesn’t release right away.

4. Unfold the stand and use a flat-head screw driver to pry up both kickstands as shown.

5. To unstick the folding tile shelf, rotate the shelf towards the tile side of the stand. If the shelf will not move, use a flat-head screw driver and gently pry the shelf away from the main body as shown. Start in the middle of the shelf, move left and right of the centre. Stop prying if you hear it separating. Try rotating the shelf in-between each use of the screw driver until it comes free.

NOTE: Be careful in the prying process, especially near the ends of the shelf, too much force can snap the “leg” that connects the base to the main body.
