I finally had enough of the discomfort that the 18C (5 1/4 long, 11/16 diameter) causes with larger layouts so I looked around for a cap or handle or something. None of the ones I found were sized for what I have so I made my own from scratch, taking a bit of inspiration from some commercially available ones for other punches.
The bonus to this design, which might even be better than saving my hand, is that it will not roll off the table! I have the file set for and MK4S, PLA+, 40%, organic on the inside, scarfed seams and small brim. Printing the model at 100% will provide a slip fit and it will slide on and off easily. Printing at 99% makes it a snug interference fit, but the model is short enough that you do not lose any of the spring adjustment sight line.
The 18AA (4 long, 7/16 diameter) isn't strong enough to cause discomfort but I liked the non-rolling effect of the big handle enough to make something similar for the little 18AA. You'll notice I changed the top to make it more practical/useful for that particular punch size/strength. Printing at 100% makes it a good interference fit. Other print settings are the same as the big handle.
