This oversized compass model helps teachers/instructors to demonstrate key navigation skills and help boost their students confidence with real-world navigation. The large format allows groups to follow along as bearings are set, angles are measured, and maps are oriented.

There are 2 printed parts (see print instructions below), a polycarbonate sheet base, and an arrow label.

  • For the base, a pdf technical drawing is available in the 'other files' section.

  • For the arrow, svg and pdf files are available If 2D printing is available. Alternatively, the 3d model could be extracted from the assembly step file and 3D printed or drawn on with permanent marker.

  • The full assembly can also be found in the 'model files' section.

Required Hardware:

  • 1x M5 x 16mm Socket Button Screw (ISO 7380-1), or similar

  • 1x Nylon Locking Nut (DIN 985), or similar

Print Instructions:

All multicolour parts can be made on non-multi-material printers by inserting a 'change at z height' instruction into your slicer.
