MIL Connector Shells Size D Keying A (D38999)

These models are part of an additive manufactured print-in-place MIL spec-ish electrical connector system. These connectors consist of four components divided into two groups: 

1. Shells, wall mount receptacle and straight plug (in this model)

2. Inserts, pin and socket inserts for Molex 1561 and 1560 contacts (see Collection)

The shells make up the mechanical connection component of this connector system. They polarize the connection and make the connector system scoop proof.

There are nine sizes available numbered from A to J in increasing size order. Each shell is, furthermore, available in six keying options from A to E and N for normal. Only receptacles and plugs of equivalent size and keying option can be mated.

The wall mount receptacle can be mounted to a flat surface with a bolt hole square. See the drawing above  for more details.

Print the models as shown in the pictures for best results. You may have to remove some stringing after the print.

The inserts are printed separately to allow maximum flexibility of the connectors. They are then fit into the shells and secured with superglue. For procuring inserts you have multiple options: 

1. check out ready to use inserts (see this Collection)

2. design your own inserts

To design your own inserts, you can find a drawing of the connectors dimensions in the mated state below. With your own inserts you can adapt the connector system to any contact that fits the shell.
