This is still work in progress.

I make this for my Prusa XL as a dock for my DryBoxes supporting the RFID reader from the Project SpoolSense.org

This enclosure is part of the SpoolSense ecosystem – an open-source project for tracking filament spools using NFC.

Full project, firmware, and general wiring guide: https://spoolsense.org

For build information for this scanner, please see here: https://github.com/SpoolSense/spoolsense_scanner/tree/main/usermods/plasticsnake

What is ready, what is planned:

  • modular for easy printig ( 3 parts for the base) also printable on smaller printers

  • nicer surface through printing upside down and bolting together ... selftapping

  • no support needed reducing time and wasted material

  • colors corresponding to the Prusa CI

  • screwing together with normal M3 Allen screws selftapping

  • backpart of the dock is interchangeable for future changes (keypad, LCD, TFT, Buttons ...) so the front part can stay "as is" with the NFCReader and the ESP32DevKitC1

  • powerconnection in the front with ellbow cables

  • this is the stand alone version at the moment

  • connection to the frame of the XL

  • for the 5 toolhead version ... 3 on the left and 2 on the right ...
