The sensor is cheap, widely available, fast and good.
Native Linux kernel support.
I suggest to melt-glue top+bottom together.
Hole for 3mm USB cable (only 5mm of it's outer insulation needs to enter the shell, superglue-in-place, and solder the four USB leads onto the PCB.)
One mage I uploaded shows the USB connection on connector and PCB, Red=5V , White=D- , Green D+ , Black is GND.
Guggested mouting: a thin double-sided tape on the table/monitor stand.
