Summary:

Our cutting boards slide all over the countertop, and we wanted a simple way to prevent that. Cutting board feet are easy to find, but most aren’t especially fun or visually interesting. I initially considered making human-style foot pads, but my wife threatened me with divorce… so I made them as animal/monster feet instead thanks to @SavageRodent!

These pads should work for many other uses as well. They also look like they’d fit nicely on the bottom of kitchen chairs.

Example Print Settings

Note: Settings may vary slightly depending on your machine and the TPU you’re using, but these should be a great starting point.

  • HF Nozzle: 0.4 mm @ 225°C

  • Chamber temp: 40°C

  • Bed: Satin @ 55°C

  • Max volumetric speed/flow: 8 mm³/s (for a regular nozzle, start around half that)

  • Pressure advanced: 0.036 (Orca slicer only)

  • Brim: 5 mm (highly recommended with TPU)

  • Supports: None

  • Cubic infill: 15%

The “Square” feet should fit most rectangular cutting boards. The “Round” feet have a 15 mm radius and were designed to match my specific boards, but they should still fit other sizes without needing to be perfect.

For installation, super glue works well but I recommend hand washing only. (You generally shouldn’t machine-wash wood cutting boards anyway.) If you’d rather not glue them on, you can also use double-sided tape strips designed for hanging items on walls.

Tips:

  • TPU can be intimidating. Start with smaller prints to dial in your machine and filament settings.

  • Clean the build plate thoroughly with mild dish soap and water.

  • I know it sounds unconventional, but I’ve been using cheap hairspray again to improve adhesion on all my prints. I got tired of supports failing and letting go partway through a print after a few hours.
