Edit: tested that striker wood chunk and its perfekt only that two smaller tubes sounds hollow, the lenght does the specifick sound. And for assembly, i used green thin garden wire for plants.. or make bigger hole in slicer. Also only one side has structure, for top structured part go with 0.15, i used 0.25.
EDIT2: that little wind gem on bottom is useless.. gonna make flat chunk to catch wind better. sorry for imperfections, it was more time consuming then I expected :D
Features
Tuned to 8 harmonically consecutive tones
Longest chime length: 250 mm
Printed using Spectrum Woodfill PLA
Finished with a wood stain for a more natural wooden look
Optimized for clean sound resonance and aesthetic appearance
Print Settings
Nozzle: 0.5 mm
Layer height: 0.15 mm
Material: Spectrum Woodfill PLA
Recommended slow print speeds for best surface quality
Post-Processing
After printing, the parts were lightly sanded and coated with a wood stain to enhance the natural wood appearance and texture.
Notes
Because wood-filled PLA contains real wood particles, every print may have a slightly unique texture and color tone.
The tuning was adjusted specifically for this material and geometry combination to achieve balanced harmonic progression across all 8 tones.
Additional Notes
The first version used a “diamond-shaped” striker. Unfortunately, the hollow diamond resonated too much on impact and did not produce the clean knocking sound against the tubes that I was aiming for.
Better was when i scale striker down and fill about 20% infill.. in 3mf its scaled down..
A much better solution was using a solid striker puck printed from Woodfill PLA with infill.
I am including both versions of the models so you can try them yourself.
The diamond striker was printed in PETG, as well as the small diamond-shaped wind pendulum.
The hanging ring is designed as a foldable and reassemblable system, using a PETG circular connector as the joining element.
The large support ring is printed in two halves and then glued together after printing.
Overall, I was genuinely surprised that something like this can work so well even when made "entirely" from plastic :)
and btw i used spectrum pla wood.. and i should use prusament woodfill, it looks and smells much better from my previous experiences.
Didnt have time to optimise second striker but its printable, only take a lot of time to slice..
