A set of boolean logic plates for the Gravitrax marble run game: AND, OR, NOT, NOR and NAND.
For every plate, also print a Plate Ring and attach to the bottom of the plate. Print without supports.
STEP files are included.
AND/OR
AND and OR are implemented using the same flipper plate. The flipper plate has one input track, and two output tracks. One of the output tracks can be defined as the output of the logic gate, and the other as a discard of an unnecessary marble.
To setup the flipper as an AND gate, turn the pointy end of the flipper to the same side, on the plate, as the output track. The first marble to enter the gate will be discarded, and the second marble will be used as the output (logical AND).
To setup the flipper as an OR gate, turn the pointy end of the flipper to the opposite side, on the plate, as the output track. The first marble to enter the gate will be used as the output (logical OR) and the second marble will be discarded.
Note that the flipper needs to be reset to the correct starting position after every marble run to maintain logical correctness of the plate.
To route marbles from different tracks into the single AND/OR input, use a Junction Plate.
NOT
The NOT gate has two inputs - A and S - and a single output O. The A input is the logical input to the gate, and the S input is required to propagate the output. The marble for input A (if present) must arrive at the plate before the marble for input S.
If marble A never arrives (logical False), then marble S will run straight through the track (logical True). If marble A arrives (logical True), it will lodge in the path and marble S will be blocked from continuing to the output (logical False).
Note that the marble pocket needs to be cleared after every marble run to maintain logical correctness of the plate.
NAND/NOR
The NAND and NOR gates have three inputs - A, B and S - and a single output O. The A and B inputs are the logical inputs to the gate, and the S input is required to propagate the output. The marbles for inputs A and B must arrive at the plate before the marble for input S.
Note that the marble pockets need to be cleared after every marble run to maintain logical correctness of the plate.
