IKEA MARKUS Foldable Armrest Mod (No Drilling Required)

This mod converts the IKEA MARKUS armrest into a quick-release foldable armrest, making the chair much more comfortable for playing guitar or other instruments while keeping the armrests for normal desk use.

The design uses:

• The original rear screw as a pivot
• A custom front support with a small retaining lip
• No permanent modifications to the chair

How it works

To fold the armrest

1. Pull the armrest slightly outward
2. Lift it up
3. The armrest swings down freely

To close it

1. Lift the armrest back into position
2. Pull the armrest slightly outward
3. Push it a bit back into position
4. The retaining lip locks it in place
