Intro
This is a fully open source with CAD provided lab and retort stand that you can use FreeCAD to natively change key variables like the size of rod you want to use. I hated that all existing designs didn't feature counterweights to make them more usable in a real lab and also that none provided the actual CAD files so I could improve them, so I made this to address the issue. Its key features are:
Compatible with all common rod diameters with 8mm, 10mm, and 15mm already exported and provided here as they are the most common sizes.
A compartment in the base to add counterweights to make the stand more stable.
Holes pre-counterbored in the base for M5 bolts so that it can be bolted down to a table if needed. Instructions below on how to change these to whatever bolt/screw you want.
All small holes are 2.75mm in diameter which will allow an M3 bolt to nicely thread in without the need for threaded inserts or a tapping tool. These can be changed in the FreeCAD parameters.
As mentioned, I've provided the CAD files so you can alter and change this to meet your specific needs, something I think all hardware designs that call themselves "Open Source" should do by default.
I highly recommended you use PETG or a PA based filament if its to be used in a laboratory as these are resistant to most common solvents apart from halogenated ones.
How to Change Rod Diameter and Other Parameters
In FreeCAD navigate to the "VarSet" by clicking on it in the "Model" tab which is on the right of the window by default:

Inside the "VarSet" numerous variables are presented, some are self explanatory and others have a custom tooltip explaining their function that appears when the mouser is hovered over the design. Simply click in the variable field and type in the new value you want and the design will automatically re-compute.
Counterweight
The base features a compartment, you can change the depth and size of this compartment in the "varset" parameters to suit whatever suitably heavy item you want to put in there to weight it down. I used steel 5mm ball bearings but lead shot also works really well and is cheap/readily available.

Bolt Down Holes
You can double click in FreeCAD on the "Hole" operation highlighted in the screenshot below. In that menu you can change the bolt down hole parameters to suite whatever bolt/screw you want to use to mount this to a surface of your choosing.

More to Come
I plan to fully flesh this out into a lab ecosystem in keeping with a lot of the other works I've published both here and on my github (linked below). Please reach out if you'd like to contribute to this, I'd happily share access on the github or help with CAD/development work.
