I made this series of rack mounting ears for Netgear switches. My own are mostly the JGS524 type, but based on the dimensions of others I have seen, I suspect many of the other Netgear series may fit also.
Models by type:
The Solid units are the basic ones with a smooth front. Because of the faceplate thickness they gap a bit, but should still give a nice clean appearance and help control airflow.
The Slotted units allow for a RJ45 plug head to pass through toward the outer (rack) edge, while the rest of the slot is narrower to allow the cords to more tightly gather on the edge closer to the switch. I recommend the very thin corded patch cables because the full thick normal ones are likely to be too tight with more than 5-10 of them.
The Deep versions of the above are intended to set the face of the switch back into the rack an extra 25mm, in case there are tighter clearances in front of your rack, or you need space for patch cables to go around corners without sticking out or being kinked down to contain them.
Some notes on printing and installing:
I have printed mine in PLA with a 25% infill, but PETG would likely be even more robust.
For the smoothest looking face, I would recommend printing on PEI with the outer facing surface down to the print bed.
The rack ears mount to the switch with M3x8 screws (4x per ear).
The assembly mounts to a rack with M6 screws and cage nuts (the regular ones can be on the shallow side because of how thick the faceplate is).
Some of my racks are boiling hot, so we will see if there is any deformation over time. If you have any concerns about heat and material, I would suggest supporting or blocking with a shelf further down, in case it de-mounts unexpectedly.
Even with rack heat properly controlled, these mounts will not be as strong as the steel ears that are sold by the manufacturer, and so when mounted the switch does not become a shelf you can add additional weight to...under excess load the FDM brackets are likely to crack suddenly unlike metal ones that will deform a bit first.
Version Log:
05/26/26 - Released v1.0 with 5mm thick face wall (thick, reasonably robust).
06/01/26 - Released v1.1 with 4mm thick face wall (thinner face wall, easier to get a mounting screw through).
