I didn't change the design of the Levoit Core 300 activated carbon insert but I created a ring to make a tight fit for the carbon insert so air could not bypass the activated carbon. I have been able to pull it back out of the filter but if you need I can add a couple of holes for strings to help you pull the carbon container out of the filter. The fit is tight enough I'm not using the stand and I haven't had the carbon container fall into the Levoit filter.
