DISCLAIMER

I have not test fitted... But they should work.

Printable replacement mouse skates for the Waizowl Cloud.

The outlines were traced in Civil 3D, then converted into a printable OpenSCAD model with AI assistance.

The sloped edge profile was inspired by common aftermarket mouse skate geometry.

----------

PRINT NOTES

- Recommended thickness: 0.68 mm

- Print the glide face upward

- Use fine layers if possible

- I printed mine in PLA with a 0.12 mm first layer and 0.08 mm remaining layers

- Print time is roughly 7–8 minutes on my setup

- Finishing time is additional

Recommended slicer settings for the glide face:

- Top surface pattern: Concentric

- Top surface density: 100%

- Top shell layers: 5

- Top shell thickness: 1.0 mm

- Ironing: Off

I recommend leaving ironing off because it can smear the top surface, create small edge lips, and make the final thickness less predictable. Since the glide face should be wet-sanded anyway, sanding is a better way to flatten and finish the surface.

PLA works well for testing the shape, thickness, sanding process, and overall feel.

Avoid POM filament.. warping nightmare.. basically impossible to 3d print currently with my knowledge and I'm still trying things..

----------

FINISHING NOTES

- Lightly wet-sand the glide face with 3000-grit sandpaper before applying adhesive

- Use a small amount of water while sanding

- Sand evenly across the glide face until the printed surface feels smooth

- Clean and fully dry the skates before applying tape

- Use thin double-sided tape

- Use an X-Acto blade or sharp hobby knife to trim the adhesive cleanly

Tape I used:

TESTING

Testing below is based on PLA skates finished with 3000-grit wet sanding.

These printed in roughly 7–8 minutes on my setup. Finishing adds a few more minutes depending on sanding and adhesive trimming.

Let the skates cool before removing them from the build plate. Peel them off carefully and avoid flexing one section too much.

I am not responsible for any damage you cause to your mousepad, mouse, or skates. Use these at your own risk.

----------

GENERAL FEEL

PLA skates can work great, especially for testing. They are cheap, easy to print, and good enough to dial in the design before trying a more difficult material.

Compared to PTFE, PLA feels slower and has more surface feedback. Tracking can feel slightly grainy, which is expected with FDM-printed skates.
