Purchasing my paid models helps support my work on my free models (many of which are functional rather than just-for-fun). Thank you for your support. Unlike the Ninjrs, this model is sold with a commercial licence, so if you purchase it you are welcome to sell prints of it.
A fun decorative piece. Looks like a censored rude word... lift the flap to find a perfectly innocent word underneath.
Has two holes that string or other cord can be routed through for hanging; or you can use Command strips or similar on the back.
MMU recommended, but it is practical to do with manual color changes if you must. (Two plates, one needs 12 changes, the other needs 2.)
No non-printed parts are required, though superglue might be useful.
FreeCAD source file is provided in case you want to use different words, fonts, etc.
Printing
All parts are designed to print with 0.2mm layer heights on a 0.4mm nozzle, and do not require supports or any other special print settings; just loading the parts in the correct order and setting their colors. A brim may be desirable for the large main piece. If you are producing this for outdoor use, use PETG or ASA filament; if it's for indoor use, use anything you like (maybe not TPU).
You can use the 3MF file if you prefer. Print the plate with the word of your choice, and also print the corresponding censor flap (with two, three or four asterisks as appropriate).
If you are using the STL files directly, I recommend printing the Main Body and the Pin on the same plate, and the Censor Flap on a seperate plate - but this may not hold true if you're choosing different colors than I am.
Main Body: These pieces start with "Swearplate-Plate". The base must be the first part, but it does not matter what order the remaining parts are in. This should be four parts - "Base", "Nail", "Outline", plus any one "Text" part of your choice. The recommended colors are brown for Base, grey for Nail, and yellow or gold for Outline and Text. This should be printed with the non-text flat side on the build plate.
Pin: These pieces start with "Swearplate-Pin". The base is the first part, and the nail is the second part. The recommended colors are brown for Base, grey for Nail. This should be printed with the flat wide end on the build plate.
Censor Flap: These pieces start with "Swearplate-Censor Flap". There are three variants for two, three or four covered letters; use the appropriate one for the text you've chosen to print. The flap is the first part, and the asterisks is the second part. The recommended colors are black or brown for Flap, and red or yellow for Asterisks.
Assembly
Simply place the censor flap in place, and push a pin in on each side. If you find the pins do not hold well, you may want to apply a tiny amount of superglue in the base plate holes that they insert into.
If you wish to hang this with string / wire, there are small holes on each side (near the top edge) that this can be looped through.
Customization
With some basic FreeCAD skill, you can easily substitute your own preferred 4/5/6 letter swear words (or personal in-jokes, or change it so it has the actual swear, etc) into this.
The easiest way to do so is open the FreeCAD file and modify an existing text with the same number of letters as your desired word. Expand it, find the "Pad" component and expand that too, then look in the ShapeString's properties. Find the text field and change the word - write it in all caps and put a space between each letter for best results. You may also want to change the size and/or font. If you want to adjust the positioning slightly, you need to edit the Attachment Offset field rather than the Position field; you would usually only need to adjust the X coordinate. Then, export the STL file, and enjoy!
Word List
The following words are included. You can of course, as described above, use FreeCAD and the source file to create your own. There is a variety of milder and harsher words included - one of which even has two options, as I thought some people might like (but others might not) the twist of "imply a stronger profanity, reveal a fairly weak one".
