Customizable model which allows multiple adjustments like:

  • variable slot width for multiple writing/drawing utensils (adjustable slot height and width)

  • various combinations of high and shallow slots

  • adjustable slot twist

  • different numbers and shapes of honeycomb patterns

  • various designs for the curvature of the surface

Customize the model using the OpenSCAD files:

First unzip the wave_textures.zip file which contains 15 different designs for the top surface of the model. The position, rotation and scaling of all these top surface designs can be adapted.

All parameters can be set directly in the hexagon_pencil_holder.scad code file. The parameters/settings can also be adapted by using the OpenSCAD Customizer (no programming skills required) in the hexagon_pencil_holder.scad file. To getting started with the OpenSCAD Customizer install and start the OpenSCAD CAD Modeller and open there the OpenSCAD file below.  The Customizer functionality can be activated by Window → Customizer in the menu.

I highly advise to use a recent development build of OpenScad (something much newer than the current stable version 2021.01), because leveraging the new renderer as well as multithreading-capabilities result in much faster model generation. On old versions this can take upwards of a minute.

This model is loosly inspired by the aesthetic of @Richard's Honeycomb pencil stand, but completely coded from scratch in OpenSCAD to allow multiple designs and adjustments.
