Internal filament spool holder for the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 3D printer,
for spools with an arbor hole diameter of 55mm,
and a maximum spool width (default is 70mm).
It is designed to be permanently installed,
and the original spool holder can still be used when needed.
To better appreciate the design, download the step file and inspect it with a good 3D viewer (like Mayo).
Notable Features:
Removable cover to secure the spool on the holder.
Extension for spools with an arbor hole of 73mm.
External twistlock for the original spool holder.
Removable plug for the external twistlock.
Python source code is provided, along with required models.
Printing Instructions:
Use a solid and heat resistant filament like (PETG or better)
Import STEP file in OrcaSlicer, then split it into objects.
Remove the first object (the panel, not to be printed).
Use the "Auto orient all" and "Arrange all objects" tools to fit objects on one plate.
Set 5 wall loops.
Select "Adaptive Cubic" for the sparse infill pattern.
Activate automatic organic tree support.
Activate ironing of the top surfaces.
Installation:
First print and install requirements:
my 12mm panel riser: https://www.printables.com/model/1719261
my internal support for the filament sensor: https://www.printables.com/model/1738069
my PTFE Bowden adapter for the filament sensor: https://www.printables.com/model/1705975
Then (refer to the pictures):
Remove the original spool holder and keep the screws.
Insert the protector.
Insert the support ans screw it (using the screws of the original spool holder).
Connect a small length of Bowden tube to the filament sensor.
Usage:
Slide a spool on the holder (add the 73mm extension when required).
Make sure the filament unrolls from under the spool.
Twistlock the cover.
Insert the filament into the bowden tube (attached to the filament sensor).
It could be easier to insert the filament before sliding the spool on the holder.
When an external spool is required, twistlock the original external spool holder.
Then insert the filament in a bowden tube going through the panel riser
It implies to connect this tube to the filament sensor.
Development:
Download ecc_internal_spool_holder.py and step_files_for_python_script.zip
Unzip the step files in the same folder than the python script
Voilà! Please give it a try, and good luck...
