This model started out as a fun kindergarten project for my son. It turned out great, so I decided to share it with the 3D printing community!
Whether you're looking for a unique decoration to bring a nautical vibe to your child's room, a cover for a small LED light, or just a classic display piece, this lighthouse is a perfect fit.
🌊 About the Model
The model was designed with easy and aesthetic 3D printing in mind. The classic red-and-white color scheme and details like windows, railings, and the dome give it a very realistic look while keeping it friendly and accessible.
Multi-part print (No AMS/MMU required): The lighthouse can be printed using a standard single-extruder 3D printer. The individual segments (red, white, gray) can be printed separately and assembled, ensuring sharp and clean color transitions without any waste.
Lighting option: In the upper part (the lantern room), there is space to place a small LED light, a diode, or an insert made of transparent/reflective filament to simulate a real light source.
⚙ Recommended Print Settings
Material: PLA or PETG (matte filaments work beautifully for a better visual effect).
Layer height: 0.20 mm (a lower layer height will bring out the details of the railings and windows nicely).
Infill: 10% – 15% (Gyroid or Grid pattern).
Supports: Depending on how you orient the files, minimal supports (Tree supports) might be required for overhanging elements like balcony railings or the windows / doors.
Fuzzy skin: It might be great to enable it as it improves (at least for me) overall final look :)
🛠 Assembly
Assembling the model is very simple and straightforward. The parts just need to be stacked on top of each other. For the lighthouse to be fully stable and durable (especially if it's going to be handled by kids!), I recommend using a few drops of cyanoacrylate glue (Super Glue) on the contact edges of each level.
