This is a coffee bed tamper to aid making Aeropress "soup shots". Many recipes use the press' plunger to tamp the coffee, but it always runs the risk of the vacuum disturbing the grounds when removing the plunger, and placing the top filter is difficult. This tamper fits on the end of the provided Aeropress scoops, and leaves enough clearance around the edges to easily aid in placing the top filter.
