***NOTE: This mount only works for Phaetus Rapido 2 Plus UHF
This is the one: https://www.phaetus.com/en-us/products/rapido-plus-hotend-2?variant=45199405121813
You need the black one. It comes with a PT1000 thermistor and a maximum printing temperature of 350 °C, with a flow rate of 75 mm3/s. I was able to print a Benchy in 9 minutes and 30 seconds without driving the printer acceleration to an insane 40000 mm/s^2 and the travel speed to 800 mm/s, as is done on a 10-minute 45-second Benchy from Sovol.
Over the Memorial Day weekend, I was cleaning around the workshop and found a Phaetus Rapido 2 Plus UHF that I had bought some time ago. I decided to make a weekend project and adapt it to SV08Max.
I created the mount and then noticed I would need a new toolhead cover (shroud) because the fan location does not match the air intake opening on the SV08 cover. Furthermore, the part cooling fan duct was too tight for Rapido. And since the hotend fan needed to move down (Rapido is shorter and with the adapter it seats lower in the tool head), it interfered with the cover magnet. So the solution:
1- Change the fan from 2515 to 2510
2- Remix Nadir's toolhead cover to fit the new arrangement. An extra fan in this shroud can help. https://www.printables.com/model/1406153-sovol-zero-sv08-max-toolhead-shroud-cover-with-too
3- Design a new fan duct for Nadir's shroud. I liked the Monoblade duct's look and, unfortunately, didn't have access to the CAD files, so I tried to design something similar to Monoblade that integrates into Nadir's shroud. https://www.printables.com/model/1524584-monoblade-fanduct-system-and-cover-for-the-sv08-ma
I have also included a single fan shroud if one decides not to use a second fan in the shroud.
BOM
1- Two high-power 2510 24V fans. Since we are reducing the fan blades' surface by going from 2515 to 2510, more RPM would be useful. If you plan to use a single fan shroud, then you need only one 2510 fan. The following two models are the best (rated @20000RPM):
https://www.fabreeko.com/products/2510-performance-axial-fan-by-honeybadger
or
2- Six M3X4mm heat inserts (2 for the adapter and 4 for the toolhead cover)
3- Two M2X3mm (or4mm) heat inserts for the hotend fan
4- Two M3x25mm screws for the front part cooling fan, and two M3X6mm screws for the second shroud fan (preferably flat-head or countersunk)
5- Two M2X12mm screws (preferably flat-head) for the hotend fan
6- Four N52 6X2mm magnet for the shroud
7- A piece of PTFE about 17mm to insert through the adaptor into Rapido. I uses a 4mm OD and 2mm ID tube.
For more information about the shroud, please see Nadir's instructions, especially for attaching the second shroud fan here: https://www.printables.com/model/1406153-sovol-zero-sv08-max-toolhead-shroud-cover-with-too
I've included the CAD files, so you can modify and remix. I've also included a model with threading for those who might want to mill the adapter from aluminum.
Here are the changes needed in your printer.cfg
You need to comment out the OEM thermistor and define PT1000:
### SOVOL OEM Thermister
# [adc_temperature extruder_thermistor]
# temperature1:25
# resistance1:1268.60
# temperature2:180
# resistance2:1920.98
# temperature3:300
# resistance3:2398.52Rapido 2 Plus UHF using PT1000
[adc_temperature rapido_pt1000]
temperature1: 0
resistance1: 1000
temperature2: 100
resistance2: 1385
temperature3: 300
resistance3: 2120
In the extruder block, you need to identify rapido_pt1000 defined above as the sensor and change the pullup_resistor to 10000 and max_temp to 350:
sensor_type: rapido_pt1000 #extruder_thermistor
pullup_resistor: 10000 #11500
sensor_pin: extra_mcu:PA5
min_temp: 0
max_temp: 350 #310 for SOVOL hotendDon't forget to do a PID for the hotend
