Borg Prusa Core One (+) Skin
Print and like me—resistance is futile
This skin for the Prusa Core One is inspired by the Borg Cube from Star Trek. The plan is to print the skin in individual parts, assemble them using various connecting pins, and finally slide it over the printer.
Instructions:
- Connect the frame using the L-slot pins; where relevant, there are markings indicating which corners belong together.
- Attach the panels to the frame.
- The square pins are needed for the top.
- The cylinders are needed for the front.
- The triangles are needed for the left side.
- The pill pins are needed for the right side.
- The hexagons are needed for the back.
Optional:
- The left and right doors are optional and can be attached to the sides using the 3 cm long cylindrical bolts and the small pill pins. Glue in magnets to securely close the doors.
- The left and right windows should be secured to the sides with magnets.
- The top window should simply be placed on top and can be quickly removed if necessary.
- The door will have its own handle, which replaces the original handle.
CoreOne Features Compatible
- NFC
- Wi-Fi modules
- Top/side windows can be used optionally.
- The door can open nearly all the way in both directions without any restrictions
Compatible with add-ons
- Camera module
- MMU3 (WIP)
- MMU3 top cover
- Advanced Filtration for Prusa Core One
Ideas/Open Issues:
- Custom MMU3 mount
- LEDs for lighting
- Felt pads on the housing for protection.
!!! WIP - Work in Progress ! !!
Unfortunately, I’ve run out of time, and while I will finish the project, it won’t be ready by the deadline. I hope I still have a chance in the competition.
PS: Unfortunately, I don’t own the printer to test the print accuracy or take real photos. But you can help change that.
Please let me know if something doesn’t fit, or if you have any requests or suggestions for improvement.
