Large battle top - Hexablade

This battletop, designed for the Open Sauce 2026 contest, can spin for 50 seconds and hit smaller objects. It launches with a ripcord mechanism: Simply place the handle on top of the shaft of the battle top, guide the ripcord into the handle on the side shown by the arrow and pull the ripcord out of the handle as fast as you can. The battletop works best on slightly rough grounds (On flat surfaces like glass it will start to lurch).

The battletop won't work on the first attempt. Give it about 5-10 tries first, so that the mechanics can work in itself.

Print the parts as many times as listed below:

1x Battle top_shaft

1x Battle top_top cover

1x Battle top_bottom

1x Battle top_cone

1x Battle top_handle

1x Battle top_ripcord (small handle) or Battle top_ripcord (large handle)

1x Battle top_stand (optional)

You will also need 3x steel ball (∅ 12,7mm)

Important printing informations:

Print the part "Battle top_ripcord (small handle)"/"Battle top_ripcord (large handle)" with a brim for a better printer bed adhension.

You can print all parts without support-structure.

For my print I used PLA with a infill of 20%.

All parts should fit tightly togheter. You won't need glue.

Building instruction:

1. Place the three steel balls into the fitting holes of the part "Battle top_bottom".

2. Press the part "Battle top_top cover" onto the three pins of the part "Battle top_bottom".

3. Next press the part "Battle top_shaft" with the hexagonal face through the middle hexagonal hole of the parts "Battle top_top cover" and "Battle top_bottom".

4. Press the part "Battle top_cone" onto the overhanging tip of the part "Battle top_shaft" on the bottom of the battle top.
