First I tried a dovetail joint, looks great and holds up extremely well, but just took up too much space.
The dovetail connection was only 1.5mm thicker, but I didn't want to make the partitions asymmetrical for you. If anyone is interested in my tryls in the dovetail connection, I can upload it here.
