This is an Infinity Cube, which forms a continuous geometric line in the shape of a cube. I designed it with a traditional offset layout where the interlocking sides extend slightly past the top and bottom faces. The finished cube measures 5 inches square.

I originally designed this joinery to build a wooden table. To test the complex interlocking joints and ensure everything aligned perfectly, I 3D printed this scaled-down version first. It worked out so well that the printed prototype now lives on my desk as a unique plant stand!

Parts List & Assembly Instructions

The complete assembly requires a total of 18 pieces. Refer to the included Offset Cube Assembly diagram for a step-by-step visual guide.

  • (12) Long Bars (Labeled as L in the assembly guide)

  • (6) Short Bars (Labeled as S-90 in the assembly guide)

Step-by-Step Assembly

  1. Build the Top and Bottom Frames: Connect two Long Bars (L) together, then cap the ends with two Short-90 (S-90) bars to form a square frame. Make 2 of these frames.

  2. Build the Vertical Corners: Connect two Long Bars (L) together at a right angle to create a vertical corner post. Make 2 of these corner assemblies.

  3. Build the Side "U" Frames: Connect two Long Bars (L) together at a right angle, then attach a single Short-90 (S-90) to one of the open ends to form a "U" shape. Make sure the two assemblies mirror each other: one should have the exposed tongue on the long bar, and the other should have the tongue on the short bar. Make 2 of these mirrored assemblies.

  4. Base Assembly: Lay one of the square frames from Step 1 flat on your work surface. Attach the two vertical corner pieces from Step 2 so they face opposite corners.

  5. Mid-Section Assembly: Slide the two "U" sections from Step 3 into the sides so that their remaining vertical long bars meet up at the same corner.

  6. Final Cap: Align and press the remaining square frame from Step 1 onto the top to lock the entire infinity cube together. (Glue can be used for a permanent stable hold)
