I wanted some birdhouse diversity for Black-Capped Mountain Chickdees. I previously made this one, but wanted more options as they are fickle little birdies. Although they investigated this cedar house quite a bit, they eventually ended up in my 3D birdhouse, we think because it is deeper than the cedar house we purchased. I designed and printed a 'basement' to add to the cedar house for next season. While the chickadees were nesting, we frequently saw larger birds trying to break in. The added depth keeps the infiltrators away from the fledglings. The basement has a small ladder to help the fledgelings climb up.
I cut the bottom out of the cedar house and screwed the basement to the cedar bottom.
I printed with PETG, .25 layers, .4 nozzle, OPXL5H.
