Coffee Bean Sieve

My coffee maker's grinder used to get clogged at the end of every bag of beans - it grinds and then tells me the beans are empty, even though it is full. It turns out that it does not like the bits of broken beans that end up in the bottom of the bag.

After realizing that I printed this to separate the small bits from viable beans and have not had the same problem since. I just give it 30 seconds of shaking over a bin, and save frustrating minutes of trying to coax a cup of coffee out of the machine.

The shape and size of the sieve facilitate storage without using up more space - the bag of beans goes inside it, so it takes up the same amount of space as the bag itself used to.

Printed in PLA with a 0.6mm nozzle.

Make very sure your print surface is clean, as it puts down a lot of small lines, and adhesion is critical at the early stage. Even a small spot that does not adhere well can derail the print. I found the handle flexed during printing, and had to model in some lateral support to prevent crashes. It separates easily and cleanly. I originally intended to add a lid, but that does not seem to be useful in real-life use.
