🚲 Rack Tube Protection – Bike Rack Tube Protector

I designed this sleeve because the middle tube of my bike rack gets damaged quickly. Once the factory paint wears off, the metal starts to rust. To prevent this, I created a protective clamp-on sleeve that you can easily place around the tube.

Why this design?

  • Protects against rust by shielding the tube from rain, sand, and road debris.

  • Ventilation holes so moisture doesn't get trapped inside.

  • Clampable (open on one side) so you don't have to slide it over the end of the tube.

  • Reinforced rims on top and bottom for extra strength and a clean finish.

Print settings I used:

  • Material: PETG (or ASA for better UV resistance)

  • Walls: 4

  • Infill: 15-25% (not very critical due to the thickness)

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm

OpenSCAD File

The .scad version is fully parametric. You can easily adjust the following values:
