Bricklayer's Line Tingle (Stop String Sag)

Why pay £16 or more on Amazon for a basic piece of plastic when you can print a better one for pennies?

This is a 3D-printable Line Tingle (also known as a Tingle Plate) designed specifically for bricklayers and DIY builders. When you are laying a long course of bricks, your string line will inevitably sag in the middle, throwing off your level. This simple tool sits on top of your middle bricks to hold the line perfectly straight and taut, ensuring your wall is flawless from end to end.

I was tired of seeing overpriced, flimsy tingles online, so I designed this one from the ground up. It offers the exact same professional quality as the expensive retail versions but features a slightly tweaked, improved geometry for a better grip and faster line adjustments on the job site.

Key Features

  • Massive Cost Savings: Costs next to nothing in filament compared to £15+ retail models.

  • Upgraded Design: Improved tolerances and geometry for a firmer hold on the brick and line.

  • Professional Grade: Keeps your masonry lines perfectly level on long runs.

  • Easily Replaceable: If you lose it or drop it down a cavity, just print another one in an hour!

Recommended Print Settings

Since this is a hand tool that will see use on a rough building site, durability is key.

  • Material: PETG or ABS/ASA is highly recommended for impact and UV resistance, though PLA+ will work fine for DIY use.

  • Infill: 40-50% (Gyroid or Cubic) for extra strength.

  • Walls/Perimeters: 3 to 4 walls for maximum rigidity.

  • Supports: [Insert "non needed" or "Minimal supports needed" based on your design].

Complete Your Kit!

Don't forget the ends! This Line Tingle pairs perfectly with my Bricklayer's Line Blocks (the corner blocks that anchor the string at each end of the wall). Check out my profile to download the Line Blocks and complete your ultimate, fully 3D-printed bricklaying setup.

Happy printing and happy building! Let me know in the comments how this holds up on your site, and please post your makes!
