GM LS Engine Spark Plug Holder Caddy

Keep your GM LS engine swap or tune-up organized with this dedicated spark plug holder caddy. This design features permanently embossed cylinder number markings that precisely match the standard GM LS engine layout (Odd numbers 1-7 on the left, Even numbers 2-8 on the right).

Perfect for keeping track of which plug came from which cylinder when analyzing engine health, or just keeping your fresh plugs safe before installation.

🛠 Bill of Materials (BOM)

To assemble this caddy, you will need the following hardware:

  • Fasteners: 4x M3 x 30mm Socket Head Cap Screws (SHCS)

  • Heat Inserts: 4x M3 Heat Set Inserts (Voron Spec: 4.6mm diameter, 4.0mm length)

  • Magnets (Optional): 8x 6mm x 3mm N52 Neodymium magnets (for mounting to your toolbox or vehicle frame)

🖨 Filament & Printing Recommendations

Because this tool lives in a garage environment, material choice matters:

  • Tested Material: Printed perfectly in PET-CF (Carbon Fiber PET) for maximum rigidity and chemical resistance.

  • Alternative Materials: Any chemical-resistant filament will work great. ASA, ABS, or PETG are highly recommended to withstand garage fluids, oils, and ambient heat.

  • Infill: 20-30% Gyroid for great structural strength.

  • Supports: Designed to print easily with minimal to no supports depending on your printer's bridging capabilities.

🔧 Assembly Instructions

Follow these simple steps to build your LS spark plug caddy:

  1. Install Heat Inserts: Use a soldering iron to melt the 4x M3 heat-set inserts into the designated holes on the top face of the base plate. Ensure they sit flush or slightly sub-flush with the surface.

  2. Stack and Bolt: Position the spacers between the top and bottom plates. Thread the 4x M3 x 30mm Socket Head Cap Screws (SHCS) down through the top plate, through the spacers, and lock them into the heat inserts on the base plate.

  3. Add Magnets (Optional): Flip the assembly over. Test-fit your 8x 6mm x 3mm N52 magnets into the pockets on the underside of the base plate. Secure them in place with a small drop of super glue (CA glue) in each pocket.
