A remix of stlDenise's spinning battle top with better conserved angular momentum.

Please use the rip chord and launcher from the original.

Features

The top's centre of mass swifts as it speeds up and slow down, conserving its angular momentum. (Like the spin of a figure skater.)

The core/blade of the top spins freely to dissipate impact.

Fully 3D printable, but can be upgraded with metal parts.

Printing instructions

Print the screw, the balls, the faux bearing and the spacer with PLA at 100% infill.

Print the top and bottom in PLA, with a perimeter/wall loop of 3 and infill of at least 20%. (The higher the infill the better.)

For the core, print with either PLA or PETG. Follow the same perimeter/wall loop and infill instructions as the top and bottom.

Assembly instructions

  1. Insert one ball into each of the holes of the bottom part.

  2. Attach screw to the bottom part.

  3. Place faux bearing onto the screw.

  4. Place spacer onto the screw on top of the faux bearing.

  5. Place the core onto the assembly; the bearing should fit through the hole of the core.

  6. Screw on the top part.

Optional

Instead of the 3D printed balls and faux bearing, use 8mm steel balls and 6700 ball bearing.
