Digital Multimeter Tweezers – DIY SMD Test Probe
This is a custom-designed digital multimeter tweezer attachment that I designed from the ground up to make testing SMD (Surface-Mount Device) components faster, easier, and more accurate.
Instead of trying to hold two standard multimeter probes at the same time, these tweezers allow you to contact both terminals of a component with one hand, making measurements much more convenient—especially for resistors, capacitors, diodes, LEDs, and other small electronic components.
The design focuses on:
Comfortable and ergonomic grip
Reliable probe alignment
Easy assembly
Durable construction for repeated use
Suitable for electronics repair, prototyping, and hobby projects
This model is intended to be 3D printed and assembled using common multimeter probes (or compatible metal contacts, depending on your build). No special tools are required beyond basic assembly.
Features
Designed from scratch
Lightweight and ergonomic
Ideal for SMD component testing
Easy to print
Beginner-friendly assembly
Compatible with most standard digital multimeters (depending on the probes used)
Print Settings
Layer Height: 0.20 mm
Infill: 20–30%
Walls: 3–4
Material: PLA, PETG, or ABS
Supports: Only where necessary (depending on orientation)
Assembly
Insert the multimeter probes or metal contacts into the designated holders and secure them if needed. Connect them to your multimeter and verify continuity before use.
