A Qidi Box Riser for the Q2 designed to fit over the OEM riser. Glass can slide back and forth, the riser will prevent the glass cover from going back too much (beyond the lip in the glass) regardless of the retaining lips.
It has an integrated placement for a removable broomstick to enable mounting of external filaments easily.
lifts the Qidi Box by 50mm.

BOM:

  • M4 16mm x4

  • M4 Washer x8

  • M4 Nut x4

  • M8 420mm threaded rod x2

  • M8 Washer x4

  • M8 Nut x4

  • D24mm L420mm Broomstick

  • Wood screw (sub 20 mm long) x2

Print:

  • Print from PETG or higher temp resistant plastic ( I went with 4 perimeters and 20% infill)

  • Be sure to print 2 of the Adapter.stl and Broom_holder.stl

  • Notice that Main.stl requires supports as shown in the images (marked in green)

  • Parts are placed in the intended orientation for print

Assembly:

  • Connect the spool holder with the main body with the M4 bolts

  • Connect both main parts with the adapters and the threaded rods

  • Place on machine and place the QID box on top

  • Slide the broomstick holder in place and slide the broom stick in

  • Mark the holes on the stick

  • Drill a pilot hole and screw in the screws

  • Done!

More thoughts:
Sure, the OEM riser is not the best but it works so good enough IMO.
In the design process I failed to notice that one of the rotating holders for the glass swing forward so it will have to be removed if you want to have the riser on and the glass free to be removed.
I actually ended up only one threaded rod in the center, seems to be strong enough.
The FreeCAD model attached if you would like to make adjustments.
The orientations I am mentioning (left and right) are in the perspective of the printer.
When replacing spools the box the riser can be lifted slightly and sled forward easily.
