The Under-cabinet Recipe Holder is a clip affixed to the backside of a bottom-of-cabinet trim piece that holds a recipe card. The clip holds the recipe up off of the countertop which frees up some room to work and, in most cases, it will hold the recipe at a comfortable viewing height.
Required Hardware
(2x) #8 or M4 wood screw of appropriate length (measure the thickness of your cabinet's trim piece and multiply by 0.75; select the closest length screw to this number).
Print Recommendations
0.4mm nozzle at a 0.2mm layer height.
4 perimeters
PETG is recommended over PLA because PETG is less susceptible to creep* than PLA.
Orient the clip standing on one of its ends, not lying flat; no support is required in this orientation.
*Creep is the slow, permanent, time-dependent deformation of a material when subjected to a constant, sustained load or stress. — The design of this clip puts a small amount of pre-load on the legs of the clip in order to provide a sufficient clamping force against the cabinet trim piece to hold a recipe card.
Installation
On the backside of the cabinet trim piece, align the very tip of the clip legs with the bottom edge of the trim piece so that the contact areas of each leg are fully against the trim piece and not hanging over the edge.
While holding the clip in this position, mark the hole locations.
Drill a 7/64" or 2.5mm pilot hole for each screw. — Mark the drill bit with a piece of tape to indicate the correct depth so you do not accidentally drill all the way through the trim piece!
Use two #8 or M4 wood screws of appropriate length to attach the clip to the backside of the cabinet trim piece.
Slide in your recipe card and get to cookin'!
Precautions for Use
Do not place more than one recipe card in the holder at a time. Over time, the added stress on the clip material from holding multiple cards simultaneously will deform the clip and it will no longer have sufficient clamping force to hold a single recipe card.
Do not store a recipe card in the holder for an extended period of time. Once you have finished cooking with the recipe, it is recommended you remove the recipe card from the holder and store it elsewhere. Doing so will preserve the clamping force of the clip so it will continue to function for years to come!
