My Velbon T-3500 tripod has a nice quick-release mechanism, but another older tripod lacks this feature, so I made this "socket" which attaches to the tripod with the standard tripod screw (1/4"-20 thread).
This print requires these additional parts :
1/4"-24 hex nut
#10-24 X 1/2" truss head screw (or round head screw and washer)
#10-24 hex nut
CAUTION! : I am reasonably confident that this model will hold a moderate amount of weight, but I would not trust it with my expensive camera or any other heavy and delicate piece of equipment. I plan to use it for a phone camera holder (link below), so I think it will be more than adequate.

If you need additional quick-release plates, you can find them here :

Assembly and Use
Insert the 1/4"-20 hex nut into the top of the Socket; this will be used to attach the base to the tripod. Insert the #10-24 hex nut into the underside of the Socket. Attach the Lever to the Socket using the #10-24 screw; tighten the screw so that it is fairly tight when the lever is closed.
Note that the socket lever on a Velbon tripod is spring-loaded to hold the lever closed. I opted not to try to add this feature since the pressure of the lever on the quick-release plate will hold it in place.
Attach the base to your tripod using the tripod's mounting screw. To attach a quick-release plate, open the lever 90 degrees, insert the plate, and then close the lever firmly - it should close quite tightly.
Print Instructions
Print in PETG using the 3mf files provided, otherwise :
Socket (print square end down - see photos):
0.2mm layer height
5 perimeters
15% grid infill
Lever (print top side down - see photos ) :
0.2mm layer height
5 perimeters
30% grid infill
I used PETG as I think it is stronger than PLA, but PLA should also work, depending on your use case.
