Replacement pinch-roller sleeves for the IBM 5183 Portable Printer, including the IBM/Lexmark 5183-010.
The original rubber rollers commonly deteriorate into a sticky, grease-like residue, leaving only the bare steel shafts. When this happens, the printer may still operate and print, but the paper will slip or require assistance to move through the mechanism.
These inserts are designed to be printed in TPU and slid onto the cleaned steel roller shafts. Three inserts are required per printer.
Installation
Remove all deteriorated roller material and thoroughly clean:
The steel pinch-roller shafts The main feed roller The surrounding paper path
Slide the printed TPU inserts onto the bare steel shafts and verify that each roller turns freely and contacts the main feed roller evenly.

These inserts were installed and successfully tested in an IBM 5183-010. After replacement, the printer fed paper without assistance and completed its full internal test print with consistent line spacing and print quality.
