I created this filter for observing the sun. It is foldable to be able to use it during a solar ecplise. It will click on to the standard lens hood of the camera and you can turn it so that the flip handle always is on the top location. Take care when dismounting the assembly because the clamps can easily break.

The parts were created in Freecad as a lesson for myself, source file is included.

The model can be printed in PETG or PLA and needs no supports. I printed the friction rings in TPU-95, but you could also use some 1 mm rubber or soft plastic sheet with a 3,5 mm hole.

For the assembly you'll need a 20 mm M3 panhead screw with a self locking nut. In addition there are two 6x1 mm magnets to close the filter positively. The screw, together with the friction rings can be used to adjust the stiffness of the pivot to your liking.

The actual filter is  baader astrosolar D5 film. This can be purchased at many astronomy supply shops for example here.

You should coat the backing plate on its bottom side lightly with contact glue. Put the filter foil on a flat piece of cardboard and gently attach the glue side of the backing plate. Be careful never to touch the foil directly and do not stretch it, some light folds do not matter. Trim off the excess foil with a sharp knife and drop the plate with the foil side down in the filter front. You can now push in the support ring that will hold the filter in place. Push the support ring down until it is on the bottom and the filter ring is centered. It should hold fine as it is but if you want you could add a drop of CA to secure the outside.
