my original front sight was cracked on my old Winchester model 290 so i went looking for a replacement part.
turns out there are no original parts to be found, the only one to be found online is an ebay listing for a 3d printed variant.
being cheap i decided i would waste some company time and model and make my own and share it with the world wide web for free!
the geometry is slightly different from factory, mainly the taper added behind the retention notch for the magazine, this was added because i thought it would be nice, no other real reason.
i also removed the pin that was between the barrel and mag tube, as far as i could tell it did not really do anything and it has worked fine for me so far.
i printed this part out of ABS because i had access to a printer capable of doing so but in theory this would be fine to print out of a lesser material like PLA or PETG since it is a static part and the end of the barrel does not get hot enough to really make any of it soften unless your shooting off hundreds of rounds at a time.
i used 30% gyroid infill and with supports for this part.
if you find your self in the same position i was in trying to remove the original sight, best of luck !!!!
not quite sure what plastic it was originally made from but boy it sure was tough, heat did basically nothing for removing it and blunt force does not work very well as it is wrapped around a metal pipe!
i ended up using a oscillating multi tool to cut a grove in it and with a sacrificial pair of flush cutters snip enough off to slide it off.
it is a friction fit with the barrel having groves in it that make it easy to side on but basically impossible to remove without destructive measures.
