Rock you like a hurricane! This model is part of my Slave To The Metal 90s Drawing Series /Collection, where I am systematically turning my original hand-drawn concept art of classic band logos into clean, printable display pieces.

This plaque brings the sharp, aggressive, geometric typography of Scorpions to life. To capture the precise feel of the original logo while keeping the print stable, I’ve given you two distinct mounting approaches:

1. Standard Base Version: Features a solid backing plate that frames the text perfectly for a classic plaque aesthetic.

2. Hidden Base Version: A clever configuration featuring minimal, recessed connective bridging hidden low between the letters. This preserves the isolated look of the original logo while allowing the entire piece to print seamlessly as a single, structurally sound unit. This has to options—a .0125” thick bridging tabs, or thinner 0.0625” (THB) bridging tabs.

Design Tip: To make the letters look like they are completely floating on your wall, try printing the Hidden Base model using a transparent or clear filament!

Both versions come equipped with integrated keyhole slots on the back so they mount completely flush against the wall without requiring external brackets. The 8.0” text width ensures a highly manageable print size for standard and compact print beds alike.

Multi-Color Filament Swapping Tip:

1. For the standard base variant, you can easily achieve a high-contrast look without an automated material switcher:

2. Slice the model flat on its back.

3. Program a pause or filament change in your slicer right where the background plate layer ends and the letters begin.

4. Swap from your background color (like black or dark grey) to your primary text color (like bright red, silver, or yellow) for a sharp, clean pop!

Print Settings

• Material: PLA (Or clear PETG/PLA for a fully translucent floating look on the Hidden Base variant)

• Layer Height: 0.12mm to 0.20mm (Lower layer heights yield incredibly smooth results across the blocky angles of the letters).

• Infill: 10% or higher (Gyroid or Grid patterns work beautifully for stability).

• Supports: None required when printed flat on the bed.
