Jump right into this next addition to my Slave To The Metal 90s Drawing Series /Collection, where I am systematically turning my original hand-drawn concept art of classic band logos into clean, printable display pieces.

This model replicates the iconic winged emblem of Van Halen, complete with the stylized "VH" background and the overlapping center banner. Designed without a base backing plate, the emblem relies entirely on its interlocking structure for a bold, floating presentation straight on your wall.

Equipped with (2) built-in keyhole slots on the back, it mounts completely flush using #3 screws or small finish nails.

Dimensions

  • Width: 8”

  • Height: 4.7”

  • VH Thickness: 0.25”

  • Ribbon Thickness: 0.125”

  • Total Thickness: 0.375”

  • Mounting: (2) Built-in key-hole slots on back for #3 screws or nails.

Print Settings

  • Material: PLA (Or clear PETG/PLA for a fully translucent floating look on the Hidden Base variant)

  • Layer Height: 0.12mm to 0.20mm (Lower layer heights yield incredibly smooth results across the blocky angles of the letters).

  • Infill: 10% or higher (Gyroid or Grid patterns work beautifully for stability).

  • Supports Required: Because the banner ribbon overhangs across the underlying "VH" structure, supports are required for a clean print.

    • Slicer Tip: Be sure to place support blockers directly over the rear keyhole slots so they stay clear of support material and preserve their clean mounting geometry!
