This is a wire stripper adjustable stopper (I call it a plunger) that is compatible with Irwin Vise Grip wire strippers.
I found it was very annoying to use the original stopper (plunger) due to its shallow depth. To crimp smaller JST connector pins, I needed to have a shorter length of exposed conductor and the original stopper wasn't long enough to create a short enough piece. SO, I created this alternative stopper size to allow me to go down to 1.7mm (0.07") and all the way up to 15.3mm (0.6").
Min Conductor Strip Size: 1.7mm (0.07")
Max Conductor Strip Size: 15.3mm (0.6")
I am fairly sure the screw that came with the original stopper will work. I just used a button head M3 x 8mm fastener. The hardest part will be getting the fitment right. I wanted something that would have the same resistance as the original stopper (plunger) so I came up with a design that worked well with my printer (0.16mm layer height). I did include a slightly undersized stopper shaft version in the case you're having trouble with fitment. If it is too loose, even on the standard version, I would suggest scaling the size of the plunger (not the mount) by 0.5 to 1%. Alternatively, just sand the plunger shaft or use a drill bit on the mount hole to get a good fit. Or, I found that you can just twist the plunger in the mount repeatedly to get the perfect fit (Just print all 3 plungers and see which one fits best).
PS: Don't tighten the fastener for the mount too much or your second jaw will not articulate properly!
Let me know if this helps anyone out there! Strip away fellow creators!
Update (7-27-2026): Updated the min strip size from 2.5mm (0.1") to 1.7mm (0.07"). Removed tang at the end of the plunger.
Update (8-30-2026): Added "Micro" configuration to further reduce the minimum conductor strip length.
