Proudly designed built and prototyped in the USA
This is absolutely the most complex weaving loom I have ever developed, and it's far from perfect, but absolute perfection is for the next machine tool project. I am very happy with the results of how it looks so far.
It was intended to serve as a low-cost, open-source alternative to other weaving machine tool projects, of which I've noticed there are not many electronic ones available on the internet.
I originally intended to take this with me to MRRF 2026, but the morning of, it almost caught on fire. (Lol)
Edit: I noticed how dark and foreboding that sounds, no worries, that issue has long since been fixed.
Minor Technical Details
Currently it does not work automatically as it is lacks weft insertion automation. That might be a future update to make it a truly hands-free weaving experience. But you can work the loom using the pushbutton dock.
This is a 2 shaft table loom, so It can effectively make 1 pattern, there are more open source versions to come depending on how successful this one's metrics are. You can still weave cool patterns if you choose your yarn colors for your weft and warp accordingly.
It has an absolute BEAST of a frame and the entire project will cost atleast 3-4 kilograms of filament. Its built very robust and strong like a wooden loom would be.
Arduino Program is also provided in project files
Because there's so many things involved with this project, here's a link to a one-stop resource teaching you everything you need to buy, print and do to build it.
