Lautsprecherhalter VW T5
4 Perimeter
Infill adaptiv kubisch, automatische Kombination an
Speaker Mount VW T5
This mount came about because the speaker install in the door should be clean and without improvising. It uses the existing points in the door, so nothing extra has to be added or glued on somehow. Tested in a T5 Transporter, and it should fit the other models in the range too since that area barely differs. If you fit it somewhere else, a quick note would be great.
Mine was printed on a Prusa Core One L, but I made the part so it also fits smaller printers like the Core One or the MK4. Just use the smaller brim value there, everything else stays the same.
Material PA CF, not PLA, a car gets too hot in summer and there is constant vibration on top of that. PETG-CF might already get soft. ABS or ASA would be a possible alternative
4 perimeters
Adaptive cubic infill, automatic combination on
Brim on: Core One L 10 mm, Core One and MK4 5 mm
Supports on, check the preview first, placement varies by slicer and orientation
Shopping list
6x M5x20 (M5x16 works too) plus washers
4x M4x20 plus washers
6x M5 press-in nuts + tool
Alubutyl mat
Assembly
Drill out the existing door holes to 7 mm (measure again against your press-in nuts)
Press in the press-in nuts, after that the bracket holds with normal M5 screws
Stick alubutyl between the printed part and the door and trim it to fit, this dampens things and stops rattling
Cut the threads for the speaker into the printed part yourself, the holes are sized 3.5 mm for that
Route the cable through
Screw the bracket to the door with 6x M5
Mount the speaker to the bracket with 4x M4
Washers are recommended in both spots so the screw heads don't dig into the printed surface.
Install at your own risk. Tighten everything properly so nothing goes flying during hard braking, and watch out for wiring and airbag components when drilling.
Have fun with it.
