After moving i decided i needed a headphone stand for my desk, and since i am flagrantly extra i decided a tentacle would go hard. I sculpted this by hand in blender over a period of about 4 days. for best visual results you could print this in resin (i havent tested this) but FDM with the thinnest layer line will give you great results. The tentacle and stand is sized to hold a pair of Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headphones, but it should work well with many different kinds
Printing And Assembly
For best structural results i recommend printing the tentacle laying on its side. That way you have the weight of the headphones fighting the rigidity of hundreds of continuous layers of filament, rather than the layer adhesion of a couple. I also recommend deciding which side is facing up based on What side you'll primarily view the stand from. The side facing the build plate will be messy. The cross should also be printed on its side and the stand should be printed straight up. If you print the tentacle standing it will probably look better, but it may break more easily.
The pieces are tightly press fit, you will need to force the cross into the tentacle and should not expect to get it back out again. Then you can press the entire thing into the stand as far as it will go.
Safety Warning
Dont. Just Dont
Remix culture
The stand i've included is left blank on purpose. I highly encourage anyone to remix it into whatever they want. A stormy ocean, a broken ship, an interdimensional portal. Use your imagination. Just remember to keep the cross cutout intact so it slots into the existing assembly.
File Size
I am aware that the tentacle is massive. It is the raw sculpt and is made up of around 5 million triangles. Depending on your computer it may be difficult to slice. For FDM printing feel free to automatically optimize it since those miniscule details wont make a huge difference. It is mainly this dense for scalability and accounting for higher resolutionm printers than mine.
