This is a fully parameterized dew shield I created in FreeCAD for my Sharpstar 13028HNT-AL Newtonian Astograph. . It prints in two pieces, a collar that fits around the OTA a mating the tube body.  One can optionally put a piece of foam rubber tape along the inside of the collar for better seating on the scope (I used PATIKIL Sponge Rubber Foam Tape, 5/8" W x 1/32" t x 16.4ft l Self-Adhesive Foam Insulation Tape).

Variables at the top of the FreeCAD tree control the length of the pieces (collar & tube), the diameter of the OTA, the diameter of the light path, the thickness of the foam tape, wall thicknesses, etc as follows:

Parameter

Description

BaseThickness

How thick to make the base part of the dew shield in mm.  This is the part that sits on the front of the scope.

CollarLength

Total length of the collar in mm.  This is the total length and thus includes both the part overlapping the telescope and the tube body.

CollarOverlap

How much of the collar overlaps the telescope, in mm.  This part of the collar prints slightly wider so as to allow space between the collar and the OTA for the foam tape.

CollarwallThickness

The thickness of the foam that will be wrapped inside the portion of the collar that overlaps the OTA.  This is given in millimeters (make this slightly small for a tight fit).

ShieldLength

The total length of the shield body in millimeters not including the collar.

ShieldWallThickness

How thick to make the shield body walls, in mm.

StopRingBumpout

The shield body contains a thin stop ring around the outside so as to provide a stop when pressing the collar into the body.  This specifies in mm how far this ring should bump out from the main tube.  Keep this small for a good print.  If it is large the slicer will want to produce supports!

StopRingLength

The width of the stop ring along the length of the tube, in mm.

TelescopeDiameter

The diameter of the OTA, in mm.

TelescopeInnerDiameter

The diameter of the light path to the telescope, in mm.

The supplied .3mf files are for a 13028HNT-AL but it should be easy to adapt to the 15028 and many other scopes.

You can optionally glue the body and the collar together.  I found it helpful to auto-orient each piece prior to printing.
